The Daytona DMAX Championship saw the closest racing ever at Daytona Sandown Park on Sunday for Round 7 of the 2017 Championship.
Already renowned for preparing the most evenly matched fleet of racing karts in the UK, the Endurance Qualifying sessions on Sunday saw almost identical lap times from the top drivers and entire grids of drivers split by only just over one second.
Just 71 thousandths of a second split Pughe and Zaustowicz in Heavy Enduro Qualifying – with the entire field of 25 drivers split just by 1.46 seconds. In the Lights, Whiting beat Kempynck by just 20 thousandths of a second, whilst 1.429 seconds split all 28 drivers – and in the Inters, the top five drivers were split by just 72 thousandths of a second and the entire grid of 22 drivers separated by just 1.497 seconds.
Traditionally a quieter month, the August round of the 2017 championships saw 130 drivers race across the six classes as Sandown Park hosted the seventh race weekend of the ten round series.
