Buckmore Park Thriller for Round 4

Buckmore Park Thriller for Round 4

The Daytona DMAX Championship headed back to Buckmore Park this weekend for Round 4 of the 2017 Series. DMAX last raced at Buckmore in 2010, but the return saw thrilling racing in all classes and all heats throughout the day.

On Saturday, 60 drivers took advantage of the chance to test the circuit before race day – and on Sunday 145 drivers raced at the Kent circuit. The Inter Enduro drivers were the first out on circuit, facing a damp circuit following overnight rain, but the track soon dried and the DMAX karts showed their speed as the fastest Arrive&Drive fleet in the UK. With all three endurance classes qualifying with the top 20 drivers split by just one second, the Daytona engineering team delivered superbly even karts once again.

Allan Curtis scored his first Endurance win, ahead of Mike Coppin and Rob Moore before the Heavy Endurance drivers entertained the spectators and race officials with a stunning battle at the from that saw five drivers racing within two seconds of each other for a full hour. Anwar Beroual Smith was victorious over Tomek Zaustowicz and Adam Nakar with Adam Christopher the leading Super Heavy. In the Light Endurance race, Dante Dillon took the win ahead of Max O’Shaughnessy and Tom Kempynck – with O’Shaughnessy’s 44.347 seconds lap the fastest of the day so far.

The Heats Championship didn’t disappoint either, with drivers having to tackle a sudden downpour half way through the qualifiers, before the sun dried the tarmac once more. The Inters Class win went to Chris Alcock, ahead of Jordan Taylor and Bobby Trundley. Tomek Zaustowicz recorded the Heavy Heats win ahead of James Taylor and Chris Munro (who was also the first Super Heavy driver home). The Light Heats final was won by Axel Slijepovic who beat Zack Swannell and Max O”Shaughnessy.
