Round 2 – 14th March.
As usual, the heavies was fiercely competitive with tempers boiling over at times, however, James Brunton kept his cool to simply romp away with the race after winning 2 of the heats. Vince Cogzell was back on the pace this weekend and could have started on the front row but decided to throw away a certain heat win with an unforced spin at turn 8. He recovered quickly for the final though to gamely chase James but had to settle for second place at the finish. Behind these two, Chris Carter who had some awful heats stormed his way through to challenge Neil Fisher for the final podium place.
With less than a tenth covering their fastest laps, it couldn’t have been closer. A lovely move up the inside at turn 4 saw Chris steal the spot from Neil and although he did everything he could, Neil couldn’t quite get the 3rd place back before the chequered flag.

4th – Neil Fisher
5th – Damien Hudes

Round 3 – P.F. International Circuit – 18th April
As with the Lights, there was a regular PFI driver in James Brunton who quickly established himself as the man to beat. He was joined up front on the grid for the final by the usual suspects in Chris Carter, and Neil Fisher. Starting his first Sprint final, regular endurance racer Andy Griffiths started 4th with Winston Bent and Stuart Hatton right behind him. Once again, the first hairpin was key and it was James Brunton who got the hole shot and got his head down to slowly pull away from the hard charging pack. Chris Carter had a relatively lonely race in 2nd despite giving it everything to keep with James. Behind these two, Neil, Andy, Winston and Stuart couldn't quite live with the pace of the leaders but still put on an impressive showing. Further back, Vince Cogzell, Damien Hudes, Michael Ballinger, Nigel Proctor and Vinod Hirani had a super scrap for the midfield places with some hard but generally fair racing. At the end of the 12 lap grand final, James Brunton once again took the chequer, followed home by Chris Carter and Neil Fisher.
Some great racing on a fantastic day made the trip to PFI very special.

Round 4 - Lydd - 16th May 2010
2 heat wins for series leader James Brunton weren't enough to stop Chris Carter from snatching pole position for the final. Lining up behind the usual suspects were James Limont, Neil Fisher, Paul King and Dave Lampitt. As the karts lined up for the start of the final, the rain became heavier and began to make the tarmac very slippery indeed. An astonishing first few laps saw lots of mistakes on the tricky track with no-one immune to the blunders.
James Limont came off at the first corner sadly ruining his hard earned 3rd spot on the grid. James and Chris slithered their way round the track and a fast starting Dave Lampitt took the lead on lap 3. Neil Fisher made good progress before spearing off the track at the horseshoe. Billy Taylor kept out of trouble and as the track dried the race - which had been mental since the start - settled down. Chris Carter slowly began to eat into Brunton's lead but ran out of laps to take the win. Billy Taylor had a superb drive from 9th on the grid to take the final podium place just ahead of Paul King, Dave Lampitt, Vinod Hirani and Stuart Hatton. A lot of drivers were kicking themselves afterwards as the weather conditions meant that almost any of the drivers could have won that one!

Round 6 - Milton Keynes
A disappointing entry for the heavyweight class, but the racing was no less intense and close. Heat wins went to Chris Carter, James Brunton and Neil Fisher. The grid for the final has James on pole followed by Chris, Neil, Gary Patterson, Michael Ballinger, Tony Welch and Mick Gomme.
Despite the heats being pretty frantic and very close, the final was a bit of a let down. We expected the closely matched drivers to have a right royal ding-dong but as it happened, James Brunton sped off into the lead while Chris and Neil couldn’t do anything to catch the flying Yorkshireman. Mick Gomme and Tony Welch did their best to liven up the final but at the flag it was James from Chris, Neil, Michael, Gary Mick and Tony.
Result:
1st – James Brunton
2nd – Chris Carter
3rd – Neil Fisher

Thanks to everyone who raced at Round 6, we look forward to Round 7 at Whilton Mill on August 15th.
Vodafone DMAX Championship Round 7 – Whilton Mill – August 15th 2010
Stuart Hatton, Chris Carter and James Brunton all had a win in the heats and James took pole position from Stuart and Jamie Wheatley. Chris Carter got DQ’d in heat three for contact but still had enough points to land him 4th on the grid. James, Stuart and Chris made a break for it early doors with Vince Cogzell and Neil Fisher a few seconds back. The top trio pulled away and battled between themselves for the entire 13 lap race but it was Carter that made his intention clear by hitting the front and pulling a few kart lengths to win from Brunton and Stuart Hatton. Vince Cogzell was 4th followed by Neil Fisher and Brendan Turner.

Vodafone DMAX Championship – Sprint Series – Heavyweight
Heat wins for Chris Carter and Pat Horrocks saw Carter take pole position from James Brunton, Horrocks, Neil Fisher, Michael Ballinger and Damien Hudes.
For the 1st half of the race, the top 5 drivers were all nose to tail giving it everything. Hudes made a mistake at the first chicane and had a half spin dropping him out of contention whilst Michael Ballinger was off the pace with an understeering kart. The top 4 now were all racing hard and close with Brunton taking the lead for about a lap. Into the chicane with just a handful of tours left, Carter made a lunge round the outside of the right hander and he collided with Brunton as James turned into the lefthand part of the chicane slowing both drivers down allowing Pat Horrocks to steal 2nd place. James recovered quickly and went on the attack but Neil Fisher was after him and on the last corner of the last lap, Neil threw it up the inside of Brunton to snatch the place at the flag. Cracking race…
1st – Chris Carter
2nd – Neil Fisher
3rd – James Brunton
4th – Damien Hudes
