Daytona Max Winter Series Sprint Lightweights Rd2
6th December 2008 – Daytona Max Lightweight Sprint Winter Series Rd 2
After the exertions of the morning’s endurance race, the track had slowly dried out in most places, however, at this time of year, the sun doesn’t get high enough to dry one side of the circuit leaving it treacherously slick throughout the day. After 3 keenly fought heats, the 12 lap final under the lights was sure to be a cracker. Pete Ellis took control right from the start and had the undivided attentions of Chris Hackworth to contend with all the way through the race. These two were separated by no more than 2 karts lengths the whole race but despite trying everything, Chris just didn’t quite have the pace to try a pass on Pete. A little further back and it was James Pratt recovering from a DNF in one heat who clawed his way up the field to take a fine podium finish with Antonio Carozza and Matthew Edmonson-Jones just slightly futher back. At the finish, it was Pete Ellis who took the chequered flag from Chris Hackworth and James Pratt.
The final finishing positions are as follows:
1st – Pete Ellis
2nd – Chris Hackworth
3rd – James Pratt
4th – Antonio Carozza
5th – Matthew Edmonson-Jones
6th – Daniel Brown
7th – Tom Howell
8th – Zachery Seward
9th – Joe Egan
10th – Callum Souter
11th – Stuart Hatton
12th – George Marshall
