Sprint Series

After the morning moisture, Daytona’s Milton Keynes International circuit was drying at the speed of an asthmatic tortoise and was greasy and difficult for all drivers for much of the meeting. Despite the challenging conditions there was some fantastic racing throughout the day with podium places being decided in both finals on the last corners of the race. Both finals were staged under the lights making it a terrific spectacle.

HEAVYWEIGHTS

A superb turnout for the heavyweight class with 21 drivers taking to the track and it was pole sitter Brian Parias who took control of the race right from the green light. The 12 lap final was a lonely race for Brian who extended his lead slowly throughout, but it was the battle for 2nd place that lit up the dark night. Chris Carter, Jaime Osbourne and Charles Graham battled throughout the race with each driver taking the place at different stages of the final. It was clean and fair racing and a testament to the skill of the drivers that no-one was punted off despite the ferocious fight. As Brian Parias drove serenely to the flag for a superb victory, all eyes turned to the super fast turn 9 to watch the battle for 2nd place reach its climax. The karts screamed through the left hand sweeper flat out and sideways, with the glow from the floodlights dancing off helmets and karts it was anyone’s guess who would grab 2nd with only two corners to go. At the flag it was Chris Carter who muscled his way through with Jamie Osbourne who came through from 8th on the grid to claim the last podium place.
